DeSnipperaar vs Rolbakkie: cheap waste bin or certified destruction?
Rolbakkie rents cheap waste containers across the Netherlands. A 240L roll container starts from about € 10 per month, all-in. DeSnipperaar recently launched archive destruction on subscription, with a sealed 240L roll container that is emptied periodically and destroyed under certificate. At first glance they look like comparable products, because both revolve around a roll container with a monthly rate. In practice they are two very different services. The core difference: removing waste or proving destruction
Rolbakkie is set up as a waste processor. You put general waste, paper, glass or organic waste in it and it gets removed and processed. Confidential documents appear in the list of waste volumes, but the service is not otherwise built as certified destruction. There is no DIN 66399 classification and no certificate per emptying. For ordinary business waste that is fine. For a GDPR obligation you have to be able to prove, it is not enough.
DeSnipperaar is set up the other way around. We handle no general waste, only secure destruction of paper, archive and data carriers. The 240L container is sealed, destruction follows DIN 66399 P-5, and at every emptying you receive a certificate of destruction. That certificate is your evidence towards a regulator, accountant or client.

A roll container with a monthly price says nothing about what happens to your paper. The difference is the certificate, not the bin.
When does Rolbakkie fit?
- You need a cheap bin for general business waste, paper or cardboard.
- You are outside the Amsterdam region and want nationwide coverage.
- You want to place several waste volumes (general waste, glass, organic) with one provider.
- Your paper is old advertising print or non-confidential, needing no destruction evidence.
- Price per month weighs more heavily than a certificate.
When does DeSnipperaar fit?
- You structurally destroy confidential paper or archive and must be able to prove it.
- You want a certificate of destruction at every emptying for your GDPR file.
- You are in the Amsterdam region, within 20 km of the depot.
- You value a sealed container and in-house destruction, with no third party.
- You want no multi-year contract, but a fixed periodic emptying.
Two different products, not a direct competitor
The honest answer is that Rolbakkie and the DeSnipperaar subscription are not direct competitors. If you simply need a cheap bin for general waste or non-confidential paper, and you are outside Amsterdam, then Rolbakkie is the logical choice. If you have to destroy confidential paper provably and under certificate in the Amsterdam region, the subscription is built for exactly that purpose. The higher price is not a markup, but the difference between removing and demonstrably destroying.
